Luigi's Involvement

Luigi served as the Technical Director for Cabaret at Timber Lake Playhouse, stepping into the role just 21 days before opening (and a mere 18 days before first tech) to build the production from scratch. Working alongside Assistant Technical Director Luke Francis and a team of two carpenters, Luigi successfully managed all drafting, budgeting, and assembly. 

On the digital fabrication side, Luigi generated the files used by Chicago Routerworks to CNC the main wall, apron lights, and sign letters. Collaboration with the props department was also a priority, assisting Lead Ryan J. Birnbaum and CJ Warsh to handle all of the 3D printing required for the show. 

Custom solutions for the production's rigging and special effects included a mylar Kabuki drop, a confetti cannon constructed out of repurposed haunted house parts, and a seamlessly retracting drop-down microphone. Capping off these technical elements was a custom fly system designed for the Kit Kat Klub sign. Incorporating Vertigo hardware, this setup allowed the sign to travel vertically and pivot simultaneously.
